The Holiness of God seems to be a concept that is very abstract to most of us. As we move through Numbers I‘ve tried to come up with a simple explanation of what it means to say that God is Holy. Here is explanation I am using.
God is not like us. He is other than. He is without sin. Because He is the only One without sin, He is the only One who always does what is right. And because He is the only One who will always do what is right, He is the only One who has the right to do whatever He wants.
Ultimately, this authority was displayed in the person and work of Jesus. Through signs, wonders, the cross, and resurrection, He personally demonstrated the authority of One who is Holy.
The heart of our sin is that we seek to do what we want when we do not have this right as God does.
